These patriotic photos at the Capitol felt like the perfect timing with the celebration of 250 years for America. I loved watching the connection this sweet mother had with her children. They were so close! She wanted to remember their trip to DC together as a family and revisit the places they had enjoyed with their father a few years ago.

It was a rainy morning in the District which made for the most beautiful lighting at the Capitol. We started their patriotic photos at the Capitol and then walked across the street to the Supreme Court. I love this location because it offers a mix of classic DC architecture and greenery in the side gardens.

Early morning or at dusk are the best times to photograph at this location for beautiful light. You can walk to multiple spots in just minutes.
