There are a few items I take with me to every newborn session.

Here is a list of my favorite newborn items.

1. white background -I typically take a white background of some sort with me to a newborn session. This creates a studio look that takes away from any other colors or distractions. I purchased mine from One Sheep Two Sheep but even a simple white blanket works well.
2. 100mm macro lens -I adore this lens! It creates such sharp yet creamy detail photos of a newborn. I like to capture their lips, lashes, nails and toes. This gives your gallery variety and captures those details that changes so quickly.
3. simple newborn outfit or wrap -this is my most important item I bring with me! Even if a baby is having a fussy morning, if they are wrapped tightly and and feel warm, they snuggle in and relax almost every time.
4. woven basket -this adds such a lovely touch to a newborn session. You can lay them on a bed to add detail and color but they also work wonderfully outside as well.
5. shutter hugger (stuffed animal) -if you are photographing a toddler, these are amazing!!
6. SUNLIGHT -this is the key to bright and light indoor newborn photos. If the day is overcast or stormy, I try my best to stay flexible and reschedule. If that isn’t possible with my client’s schedule then we stay close to the windows or even go onto the front porch if they have one.
