These sunrise photos at the Capitol felt dreamy in every way. I loved my client’s choice of dress. It was a soft blue chiffon-a sweet nod to their baby boy that is soon arriving. We chose the Capitol at sunrise for multiple reasons. The dome looks so beautiful as the sun crests behind it and the light is soft and glowy. It was early morning when we met but it was also the day of the biggest marathon in DC. The streets were all blocked off around the area so it was calm and peaceful and all to ourselves for these sunrise photos at the Capitol.

I love when maternity sessions are in the spring. There’s so much new life happening all around us and with the promise of a new baby coming is even more beautiful. I have a favorite magnolia tree that blooms each spring right next to the Capitol so you get a wonderful mix of iconic DC locations and architecture alongside the pink blossoms.
