DC newborn sessions are all about capturing those first moments together as a family with your newborn. If you are expecting a baby you are probably thinking about where you want to take your newborn portraits. Outdoor locations and studios are both great options but I love photographing newborns at home. Here are my reasons why I choose an in-home DC newborn session:

1. The comfort of home -when you are recovering from birth there is no place that feels more comforting that being in the space that feels the safest. Everything you might need is nearby for you and baby.
2. Personal touch -each home is unique and beautiful. There’s no two homes that are alike. You have your own style and personalities that make a home special.
3. No need to travel -I have an unexpected c-section with my first baby and was so relieved I scheduled an in-home newborn session. I wasn’t able to travel for several weeks and it would have put us past that sleepy stage of a newborn.
4. Not weather dependent -Sunny days are definitely best to photograph an indoor newborn session. If it happens to rain on the day of your session you don’t need to worry about wet grass.
5. Baby safety -Staying indoors ensure a climate controlled environment. Outdoor newborn sessions can be so pretty but you do need to ensure it’s not too cold or hot for a delicate newborn.
