Hi friend! My name is Jessica, I am a family and portrait photographer based in Washington Dc. I am a Christian, wife, and identical twin. I love lilacs, candles, rainy days and honesty. I love finding joy in simple things.
de·liv·er·y noun – the action of delivering letters, packages, or ordered goods. (and in my case, a baby)
I’ve been pondering this word for a few weeks now as my own baby’s delivery draws near. This pregnancy hasn’t had any concerns but it’s felt much harder than Robert’s. Maybe it’s because I’m another year older or that I’m chasing a very busy toddler. In any case, I’m looking forward to the deliverance postpartum. Yes, there will be the recovery phase. But the utter relieve of knowing that birth is behind you and your body no longer needs to carry your sweet little one is a blessed relief.
We have a c-section scheduled for next week but I’m hoping and praying we can meet this baby without having another major surgery. Either way, I keep telling myself that if the baby and I make it through safely that is all that truly matters. The thoughts that a woman faces as she nears birth is truly intense.
Birth is incredibly beautiful and feels like a rare moment that heaven meets earth. I felt truly undone at my son’s birth but called out to the Father who knows and sees all. He met us in a powerful way in the delivery room and on the operating table. I’m so, so grateful I have Him to rely on for strength and courage. We are so excited to meet this baby soon and find out the gender! (now… to lock in a girl’s name in just a week’s time)
