This summer newborn session felt so special. I first met this sweet family at Goldie’s newborn session. Now they welcomed their second baby girl, little Pearl. It’s always a treat when clients are my nieghbors. It was an incredibly hot day so we started out in the master bedroom where they could snuggle with their girlies. Big sister did so well and gave lots of kissed to her little sister. It can be a huge adjustment as a toddler to welcome a new family member especially when they are the only child. I keep lots of toys and stickers in my camera bag to help distract and give little rewards during newborn session. Shutter huggers are a must-have for any family photographer. I have a green frog I use at almost every session and kiddos love it!

We then moved outdoors to finish their summer newborn session. I love combining indoor and outdoor photos. Outdoor photos allow you to capture the season your baby is born in. We stayed mostly in the shade because it was such a warm day. I am always cautious of children overheating and then becoming grumpy and uncomfortable. I love the images that are toddler-led. Big sister wanted to crawl into my baby basket and it made the most beautiful connection in their images.

I count it the greatest joy to capture your family in the sweetest phases of life. Welcoming a newborn into your family can feel overwhelming and photos can sound daunting. I promise we will capture magic even if it’s chaotic or your home isn’t “perfect.” It’s the sweetest place because everyone you love is there.
