I found other blogs and Utube videos so helpful in know what to pack for my hospital stay for our first birth. It’s a moment when you don’t want o over pack but also really wanting everything you may need as you recover from birth. This is my list I gathered from research and talking with other mothers.

Personal Items:

I was gifted this tote at my baby shower and it is the perfect size to carry anything I may need for myself during our hospital stay. Here is the list of items I packed in my bag:

• Chapstick
• After ease
• Lavender oil -helps to calm
• Peppermint oil -helps with nausea
• My cosmetic bag has all the essentials like hair ties and toothbrushes and deodorant.
• Oil or lotion

Equipment:

• Battery operated fan -make sure it’s fully charged -air helps me if I get nauseated
• Sound machine -I most likely will play music but love white noice
• Water bottle -I hope to fill this with ice right before leaving and then filling once we get to the hospital
• Egg lamp -I fully charged mine and plan to use it if possible. I simply cannot stand bright lights especially at night. I plan to put this on the side stand in the nursery when we get home.
• Snacks! I packed lots of snacks in case we go into the hospital during the night. Luckily our hospital has a Panera inside open 24 hours.
• Long phone charger (I ordered a 10 ft) incase outlets aren’t close by
• Camera gear

Postpartum:

• A few comfortable disposable underwear
• Frida mom peri bottle -I know the hospital provides one but this shape looks helpful and it will be nice to have two at home (one on each floor)
• Tucks
• Earth Mama Nipple Butter
• Silver Cups -I’ve heard great things about these cups in soothing sore breasts while starting to feed

Clothes:

• Pajamas with buttons for breastfeeding -I chose a dark color for hospital use
• Lite robe
• Cozy socks
• Nursing bra by Kindred Bravely
• Swim top in case I get in the shower
• Dress for coming home

I most likely will update this list once I go through labor and know what I prefer and need. To all the other Mother’s waiting for your baby’s arrival….I hope and pray for a healthy and safe delivery.
