This fall DC family session was perfect to start off my holiday family portrait season. It’s always special to meet a family once again after taking their newborn photos. Little Shira has grown so much and is just as sweet as ever.

We met at the Botanical Gardens and walked around the grounds catching the first of the fall flower in bloom. I love how cheery the Black-eyed Susans look in the first few portraits. They chose a location they could bring their dog with them because she’s very special to the family as well.

We then walked across the street to the Bartholdi Fountain. It’s so pretty in the early morning light! I think the mix of architecture and fauna is just stunning and for sure a hidden gem in DC. Little Shira was born with a cleft palate and since her newborn session has had multiple surgeries. Her and her Mama have had a very long breastfeeding journey. Her mothers asked if I could document a few moments of them together and it was such an honor. Each Mama and Baby have their own challenges and journey and I count it such a joy to be asked to document these moments with each of my clients.
