Hi friend! My name is Jessica, I am a family and portrait photographer based in Washington Dc. I am a Christian, wife, and identical twin. I love lilacs, candles, rainy days and honesty. I love finding joy in simple things.
The props I bring to photo sessions are typically very minimal. They differ depending on the session, whether it is a newborn session or a family session.
For newborn sessions I bring my basic white swaddle and background. I bring a neutral knotted gown for LouLou to use as well if the baby doesn’t prefer to be swaddled. I also have a darling cream bonnet I will bring along for little girls.
For family sessions I keep it even more simple. I like to concentrate on the family’s connection and the children’s personalities. The locations I choose are always filled with flowers or architecture and so I don’t need to add any distractions from the beauty. Depending on the age of smaller children I will also bring my Moses basket along.
I bought my Dua Moses basket a few years ago and I use it so much! Next to my baby swaddles from OneSheepTwoSheep, it’s the one prop I use the most. It works perfectly for 6 month old babies that can’t sit up just yet but also don’t enjoy laying down anymore. You can sit them nicely in the corner with a little support and they feel so big, always producing a few sweet smiles. If you are a family or newborn photographer I highly recommend purchasing a Moses basket. They are natural looking and add such a great prop for newborns or toddlers.
