After three years of hard work I finally got on page 1 of Google. So many times we see a success of someone and forget about the years of labor it took to get there. Good things take time…and sometimes you grope your way through getting there but that is ok.

I have a few simple but impactful tips on how to rank on page one of Google:

1. Blog consistently. I have blogged regularly on Mondays and Wednesdays for the past three years. I will say starting is actually more intimidating that doing the work. Once you get on a routine it starts to fall into place. Once you have one idea for a blog post you soon have 5. It truly is like a snowball. Just start.
2. Label your images. This is so helpful when clients are trying to find the product or service you offer. I export my images form Lightroom as “Washington, DC Newborn Photographer.” Then I also put that same line in my blog post title and try to weave it into my paragraph about the session. 300 words is best but even a small photograph is better than nothing.
3. Ask for reviews. I’ve read that once you receive 30 Google reviews Google recognizes your business as being legitimate. When I finally reached 30 reviews I was bumped to the first page and more inquires started to arrive in my inbox. It works!
