Where can you take family photos in DC? There are many beautiful locations but they don’t allow photography or you need a permit for. Some locations are worth the time and price for a permit but then their are others that are open and just as lovely.

• Library of Congress -one of my favorite buildings in all of DC. The French architecture and beautiful patina on the lamps thrill me every time I visit.
• Botanical Gardens -Inside is beautiful but the outdoes gardens have my heart. It has lovely flower gardens, winding paths and a beautiful fountain across the street.
• The Capitol -such a classic DC location. I love the beautiful white building with the black iron work.
• The Basilica -The building is impressive but the gardens behind are my favorite spots. It’s such a peaceful spot in the city.
• The Supreme Court -The lovely pillars offer photogenic props but also give you a great option if your session lands on a rainy day.
• The Smithsonian Gardens -The main gardens are beautiful but there is a small side garden -easy to walk right past- that is my favorite. It has an iron fountain and little benches scattered around. It’s darling!
