There are so many babies arriving in January and February this year. I’m so excited to meet every one of them! As a parent, booking your newborn photographer can feel like a big decision, but here are a few helpful tips to make sure you find the photographer that is perfect for your family.

1. Find the right newborn photographer -there are several ways to do this. Make sure you like the photographers style. Look through their website/blog or follow them on social media. You don’t want a light and airy photographer when you were looking for dark and moody.
2. Make sure you like their personality -this sounds strange but it is very important. You will be spending some of your sacred moments with this person. These are the “firsts” memories with your baby, make sure you enjoy your photographer’s company. Following them on social media is so helpful. You get to see if they are quiet and reserved or fun and bubbly.
3. Look for consistency in their work. If their all-around “feel” of their images speak to you, they should be a great fit!
4. See if they are available over your timeframe of wanting to book a newborn session. Be sure to reach out to them in advance to give yourself time to fit into their calendar. If they are booked, feel free to ask if they have any other photographer similar to their style to recommend. 5. Book them for a maternity session. This is so helpful in knowing for sure if you want them for your newborn session. Remember, those first days of bringing your baby home can feel a bit fragile. Everything is new and you are running on little sleep. It can feel relaxing to know who is coming to your home during that time.
