Our Living Room | Before and After

I am so excited to share with you our living room’s before and after photos. There is so much I love about a home. I watched my mother flip though many magazines (before we had Pinterest) and lovingly decorate my childhood home. Home is our safe place, a haven, the place we can process emotions and the place we can rejuvenate and rest. I think it’s so important to make sure it’s made beautiful and meets your needs at the same time. I will share a few things I value in a home and fun way to save along the way.

We lived 4.5 years in our home before renovation. Some days I had to pray for contentment but it made me love these walls before they were beautiful and for that I’m thankful.
I have had such fun browsing Facebook Marketplace for most of my items you see here. We saw this blue velvet couch pop up for sale and while I would have never chosen it in the first place, it’s become my favorite piece. $250
Fresh flowers are a staple for me. It didn’t used to be that way, I was so practical I couldn’t imagine spending money on fresh flowers to have them wilt in a week. Well, now we live near Trader Joes and I love their $4.99 bouquets. This marble/iron stand I got at a yard sale. I think it was $10. The chair was $50 on FB.
Plants are another must-have for any home. I will be the first to admit I have no green thumb, but Snake Plants and Pathos are two I have been able to keep for months now. While they are healthy for your air, they also make a room feel inviting.
I was nervous about getting a velvet couch but we love it! It’s so easy to clean. I just take off the pillows and vacuum the entire couch. The lamp was new from Target.
I wanted a rug for the living room that I didn’t feel nervous about spilling things on and that could hold up under a lot of wear. I found our rug on FB for $200 in just the right colors to match our couch. The grey pouf I bought for $20.
I love having comfortable things around like throws and pillows. I hold the blankets and children’s toys in baskets on either side of the couch. The white fluffy pillows I bought at Costco and the pink on FB Marketplace as well.
Candles and plants…you’ll find one in almost every room of our home.
The white curtains are from West Elm, also bought on FB.

I hope you enjoyed a peak into our living room. I still hope to get a stand for in front of the screen to put books and games in, and hang a few more photos but this space works so well for us and we are incredibly grateful. Stay tuned for a few more room reveals.
