I adore when parents take photos and videos of me working behind the scenes during a newborn or family photo session. Sometimes I cringe seeing myself but it shows me so many helpful things:

1. Your home doesn’t need to look perfect for a photo session. I can always find a corner or room that works great in every home. Don’t stress over cleaning up all the toys or cleaning at all for that matter. You just had a baby and most of my clients have a toddler or two. This is a fragile time of less sleep and schedule adjustments, that’s what you hired me to do. Take beautiful photos in your everyday.
2. You don’t need tons of props for wonderful newborn portraits. Less is more. I always take a white swaddle with me and a solid back drop, but almost everything -including my camera gear-fits into a small backpack. The parents are relieved when there isn’t too much fuss and my clients like being finished within 1.5 hours. Most of my newborn sessions only take and hour and I end up with a gallery of 100 images.
3. I love what I do! When I see me working, there’s a fire that lights me up. I love working with my clients and posing newborns. Taking an everyday room and seeing the potential in it for clean and bright photos.
