Hi friend! My name is Jessica, I am a family and portrait photographer based in Washington Dc. I am a Christian, wife, and identical twin. I love lilacs, candles, rainy days and honesty. I love finding joy in simple things.
I am not a tech savvy person, but I have found it helpful to learn as much as I can about my business to further grow it. Getting a glimpse behind the scenes of your business through analytics can also be very insightful, and surprisingly fun. Her are a few programs I use to look at different elements to my business:
Statcounter: helps to analyze your traffic trends.
Track how your key metrics are performing over time by comparing pageviews, sessions, visitors and new visitors for any date range. Spot negative trends so you can react quickly and turn things around and positive trends so you can see the results of your efforts.
This is just a fancy way of viewing who your viewers are to your site and what posts create the most traffic. Super helpful! Sometimes it’s the very blog post I don’t think will interest many and it will end up getting the most views. This shows you what content to keep sharing and how your viewers will respond. I use the free version and I’m sure the other versions would give you more information as well.
GTMetrix: this shows you how fast your site will load.
This helps your SEO buy showing your what you may need to change on your site. For example, my site loaded very slowly which told me I had to large of photo files. A few simple tweaks and your SEO can get stronger without a lot of effort.
Alexa: this platform shows you the key words to use in your blog posts to grow your SEO and get noticed more on Google. Your Google ranking is so important in order for your new customers to be able to find you. Key words are like: DC Newborn Photographer, DC Family Photographer or Washington DC Portrait Photographer. They are what potential clients are typing into Google to find you.
Instagram: If you switch to a business account on Instagram, you are able to look at a lot of helpful analytics. This shows you how many people interacted with your photos, how many people clicked to your website, and where and who your audience is. For example, most of my viewers are from DC, are women, and are in the age of 25-34. This is really helpful to know when I post to social media because I know who I am “talking to.”
I hope you found this post helpful, if you would like more business posts in the future, leave a comment below and let me know what you want to hear about!
