Hi friend! My name is Jessica, I am a family and portrait photographer based in Washington Dc. I am a Christian, wife, and identical twin. I love lilacs, candles, rainy days and honesty. I love finding joy in simple things.
Hey everyone! It’s no secret I adore the fall season and let me just say…it’s an even more delightful while I’m pregnant. The summer heat took all my energy this year but I’ve felt a new surge as I entered my third trimester this September.
Another favorite thing about the fall is all the holiday family sessions. It’s so fun meeting each family again and seeing how the kiddos have grown and what phases they are in. I’m moving a bit slower this year than last but almost entirely booked until I go on maternity leave the end of October. White I adore the crisp weather, I know some of you don’t enjoy it so much. Here is a list of all my fall favorite 2023 items and things to add to our home to make it cozy and welcome the autumn season ahead.
Trader Joe’s fall tea -I buy at least 10 boxes of this every fall so it gets us through the winter months. It’s such a favorite of mine and now I have Daniel loving it as well.
City Center leaves -If you have a chance to visit downtown DC in the fall you must stop by City Center. They string leaves down the alley and it’s so beautiful.
Fairy lights in my home -I always put new batteries in my fairy lights in the fall. The string that I have you can set to a timer which is so nice.
Battery operated candles -I adore candles but do tend to leave them burning when I leave the house. 😳 It’s such a bad habit and Daniel is convinced I’ll burn the house down one day. These battery operated candles are such a great and safer option. They even flicker and I set the time for 6pm so if we are away for the evening we come home to a welcoming candle “lite” in our living room.
Two favorite fall scented burning candles – I know I said I’m dangerous with candles but I love them so much I still burn a lot. The Wax Buffalo Pumpkin and Jardle Candles are two of my favorite brands.
Earth tones in clothes – I think these tones looks the best on fair, freckled skin anyways but I love mustard, brown and rust colors. They also look amazing in family photos during the fall months as the greenery changed to darker tones.
Cozy cardigans and textures -I love all things cozy! Knit cardigans and soft blankets I use all year but especially love them in the fall.
Pumpkin Spice Latte Syrup Recipe -I recently tried making my own pumpkin spice syrup and it was so good, you must try it!
I hope one of these inspire you and help you welcome in the autumnal season ahead.
