Hi friend! My name is Jessica, I am a family and portrait photographer based in Washington Dc. I am a Christian, wife, and identical twin. I love lilacs, candles, rainy days and honesty. I love finding joy in simple things.
Yesterday my twin sister and I were talking about Mother’s Day.
I struggle with infertility.
She struggles with secondary infertility.
We could say many things but the most important thing we long to tell every woman who is walking our journey…
There is HOPE.
You may not feel it now. You may be in the first few years of realizing it. (Which are by far the hardest❤️)
But we stand here today as proof of God’s love. Time doesn’t take away our problems…her motherhood looks vastly different than what she expected. I’m still waiting. But our lives are full of such wonderful blessings and joy.
Yours can too. ❤️
Reach out if you need a friend today.
Mother’s Day -when you struggle with infertility.
It’s OK to smile through a baby announcement and then cry at home after. You aren’t being fake. It’s feeling two things at once.
“Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.” Romans 12:15
Church services can be hard on Mother’s Day. One year, you’ll be perfectly fine, and another it will be too hard to attend. That’s OK. Some days we need to lean into our pain, others we need the privacy to grieve.
To the woman who is alone and hopeless today… I see you. There is hope! Time heals. I have been on an infertility journey for 11 years. My life is full of joy and feels vibrant. Yours can too. Pray, trust, surrender. Find a friend to confide in. Get a support group. Find a passion or job you can enjoy. It’s going to be hard. It’s not fair. But it is so, so worth it! You will change become something beautiful instead of bitter.
“And not only that, but we also rejoice in our affliction, because we know that afflictions produce endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope. This hope will not disappoint us, because God‘s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit he was given to us.” Romans 5:3-5
